Starwood Hotels & Resorts has opened its first Tribute Portfolio hotel in the Asia Pacific region.
The Kiroro, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is set in the mountains Hokkaido, providing direct access to Japan’s popular ski slopes. The 282-room hotel will undergo a major renovation at the end of the current ski season, before relaunching in September 2016.
It will be joined by another new Starwood property, the Sheraton Hokkaido Kiroro Resort, which will be located nearby.
“We are delighted to unveil The Kiroro, Hokkaido as the first Tribute Portfolio hotel in Asia Pacific,” said Dave Marr, global brand leader for the Tribute Portfolio and Sheraton. “The Kiroro exemplifies the Tribute Portfolio brand’s independent spirit and is exactly what our highly valued SPG members have asked for when it comes to offering more unique ski destinations around the world.”
The new property will form part of the Kiroro Resort, which offers 21 skiing trails, mogul courses, a children’s snow park, a ski academy, snow shoe tours and snow cat tours, along with hot springs and a gaming centre.
The new Tribute Portfolio Hotel will offer access to the ski slopes, plus four F&B outlets, an indoor swimming pool, and approximately 1,400m² of function space, including a ballroom.
Starwood launched Tribute Portfolio as its 10th brand in April 2015 and currently operates properties in the US and UK. Future destinations are expected to include Las Vegas and Jakarta.
