Starwood Hotels & Resorts has brought its luxury St Regis brand to Macau, as part of the Sands China’s integrated resort complex.

The new St Regis Macao Cotai Central becomes the fourth hotel in the huge Sands Cotai Central, and adds 400 luxury rooms and suites to the resort’s already extensive inventory, which includes the 4,001-room Sheraton Macao.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Sands China Ltd following a very successful collaboration with Starwood to open Sheraton’s largest hotel globally, Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central,” said Starwood’s president for Asia Pacific.

“After 10 years of rapid development, the Cotai Strip has elevated its status to a world-class tourism destination. The second phase of the Cotai Strip will offer a much more diversified experience for a new generation of luxury travellers, and St Regis is delighted to be a part of that continued growth momentum.”

As well as the 400 rooms, which range in size from 53 to 477m², St Regis Macao Cotai Central will offer a 38th floor spa, an outdoor pool with 2,457m² of deck space and private cabanas, and the St Regis Bar.

The launch of the Macau property marks the latest step in St Regis’ Chinese expansion strategy. The brand is currently present in Beijing, Chengdu, Lhasa, Sanya, Shenzhen and Tianjin, and earlier this year plans were unveiled for the first St Regis in Shanghai. This forms part of a brand pipeline that now features 10 St Regis hotels in destinations including Changsha, Lijiang, Nanjing, Zhuhai, Haikou, Qingdao, Guiyang and Sanya.

As well as the Sheraton and St Regis hotels, Sands Cotai Central also houses Conrad and Holiday Inn properties.
