Starwood Hotels & Resorts is on course to significantly expand its Four Points by Sheraton brand in Greater China.

This month the company will launch a new property in Guilin, extending its nationwide portfolio to 23 hotels by the end of 2014. Four more Four Points are then scheduled to open in 2015, in Guangdong, Chengdu, Baohe and the Taiwanese island of Penghu.

And this rapid growth will continue over the coming years, with Starwood targeting a portfolio of almost 50 Four Points hotels in Greater China by 2018, doubling its existing footprint.

“Four Points is one of Starwood’s key growth leaders in China,” said Qian Jin, the company’s president for Greater China. “The primary focus for expansion is in China’s secondary and tertiary cities where demand for well-known global brands is on the rise.”

The latest addition to the brand’s portfolio is the Four Points by Sheraton Lingui Guilin. Opening on 31 December 2014, the 242-room hotel will mark the brand’s entry into the Guangxi region of southern China.

Existing Four Points properties are located in Anhui, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hainan, Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang provinces, plus the region of Tibet and the major cities of Beijing and Shanghai.

And the rapid expansion of the brand in China is driving Four Points’ global growth. The brand is planning to reach a portfolio to 200 hotels in 2015.
