Australia’s StayWell Hospitality Group has signed a management agreement for its first ever hotels in Saudi Arabia.
Two Park Regis properties are both scheduled to open Makkah in 2018, adding a total of 630 rooms to the holy city’s inventory. This marks the latest phase in StayWell’s international expansion, which has already seen the Sydney-based company launch in Singapore, Indonesia, India the UAE and UK.
“These two unique hotels will offer guests superb dining options as well as deluxe accommodation within walking distance to the Grand Mosque in Makkah,” said StayWell’s CEO, Simon Wan. “The hotels are targeting to open in time for the 2018 Hajj and will welcome guests for the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah visitors in this religious destination.
“We are looking forward to both hotels complementing our existing Park Regis Kris Kin and our upcoming Park Regis Business Bay hotel, located in Dubai. We are also actively looking for further opportunities to expand our network in the Middle East,” he added.
The two new Park Regis properties will be located on Ibrahim Al Khalil Street, with one of the hotels offering 286 rooms and the other featuring 344 rooms. And the owner’s representative Riyad Alhoraibi, revealed that the deal had taken less than a year to complete.
“Discussions on the Park Regis Makkah hotels first started at ATM (Arabian Travel Market) 2015 and over the ensuing months the relationship developed culminating in the signing of agreement for the two properties just weeks before the 2016 ATM,” he said. “We are delighted to be able to offer guests a range of accommodation… within walking distance from the Haram.”
The opening of the Makkah hotels will bring StayWell’s global portfolio to 31 hotels, including four in the Middle East. And the company is planning to expand even further in the coming years, with a target of reaching 100 hotels within three years.
