Stella Travel Services has been acquired by dnata, months after the Dubai-based firm snapped up several brands from Thomas Cook.

Chester-based Stella Travel Services is the umbrella firm under the brands Travel 2, Travelbag, Global Travel Group, Sunmaster and Triton Rooms.

A figure has not been disclosed for the acquisition, which is subject to merger control clearance. The two will continue to operate separately until the deal is completed.

“The partnership between Stella Travel Services and dnata will accelerate the growth of two global brands,” said Andrew Botterill, CEO of Stella Travel Services.

“dnata is a growing, diverse group, able to support our long-term ambitions. Destinations in the Middle East and Indian Ocean have driven our strong growth for our company in recent years. dnata’s expertise in these regions will help continue this trend for years to come,” he added.

dnata is part of the Emirates Group and bought Gold Medal, Netflights and Pure Luxury from Thomas Cook back in February. It also runs Travel Republic.

“The addition of Stella Travel Services to the dnata portfolio enhances our offering to customers and the travel trade, strengthening our position as a global company,” said Iain Andrew, divisional senior vice president of dnata’s travel business. “The combined strength of Stella Travel Services, its brands and our group will deliver considerable benefits for our customers and suppliers.”
