Stockholm is on track for another record cruise year as it aims to develop itself as an ultra-luxury embarkation port.
The Swedish capital expects to carry 470,000 passengers this year on 274 ships with 36 of these using the city as a turnaround port.
The majority of those using the port for embarkation and disembarkation are in the luxury market including Regent Seven Seas, Silversea, Windstar, Crystal and Oceania.
In addition the city is looking to improve products for families, MICE and the LGBT markets.
“Thanks to its compact size, the city is the perfect cruise destination for day trippers as well as turnarounds,” said Claudia Quas, project manager of Stockholm Cruise Network. “This year, we are also expecting more UK passengers than ever before, thanks to the exceptional prices on Baltic cruises currently in the market.”
