Research published by Airport Parking & Hotels has revealed the charges levied by low cost carriers, the results of which are now available on the company’s website.
The study looks at the 12 low cost carriers which currently fly from the UK including Norwegian Air, Wow Air and Blue Air and looks at how they compare on the cost of checking in, excess baggage and handling credit and debit cards.
For checking-in at the airport Wizz Air charged the most at GBP17 while none of the carriers charged for doing so online. With regard to bookings, some lines elected not to charge a fee at all for handling card transactions online however if the transaction was made through a call centre or airport it would face a staggering GBP18 fee.
For checked-in baggage some airlines, such as Iceland Air and Aegean Airlines, offer it on a complimentary basis while others – like Air Berlin – charge up to GBP38 per bag and GBP101.92 when paying for 32kg of luggage.
