Sun Princess’ first cruise since its US$30 million drydock period has been cancelled, leaving 2,000 people without a cruise to go on.
The ship’s first cruise from Singapore to Fremantle, Australia was cancelled at the last minute today when a fault was found in the ship’s power supply.
Princess Cruises’ statement read: “While work was being completed to Sun Princess during a scheduled drydock in Singapore, there was a malfunction to the ship’s switchboard resulting in limited onboard power hindering our ability to run all hotel operations.”
“Regretfully, we’ve made the decision to cancel the cruise scheduled to depart today in order to make the necessary repairs.”
The cruise line is offering a full refund and cruise credit to the 2,000 passengers affected, and will also cover return flights home and incidental costs.
The ship will now resume service on 3 September on a 12-day cruise from Fremantle to Singapore.
