Renovation of the Sun Princess has commenced at the Sembawang shipyard in Singapore.
The ship is to receive a new atrium including the International Café; a new sushi and seafood venue and an updated Horizon Court buffet and Lotus Spa in the changes, which are set to cost US$30 million.
Princess’ Sterling Steakhouse will also debut on the ship, with its top deck hamburger grill to be transformed into an al fresco barbeque.
Throughout the drydock period Princess Cruises will be creating an online journal with regular photo updates.
“We know from past projects that our passengers are fascinated by the drydock process. Once again we are inviting people to visit princess.com to watch the exciting transformation unfold,” said Paul Ludlow, director of Princess Cruises UK.
Once completed, the refurbished Sun Princess will sail itineraries in Asia and Australia, before sailing from Japan from April 2014.
