Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to manage a brand new luxury hotel in the Chinese city of Jinan.

Scheduled to open in 2020, the new Swissôtel Jinan will become brand’s first property in eastern China’s Shandong province, and adds to a portfolio of four Swissôtels currently open across China, with several more in the pipeline.

“This project is exciting on a number of fronts,” said Foued El Mabrouk, FRHI Hotels & Resorts‘ vice president of operations for China. “It not only supports our growth plan of strategic expansion into key Chinese markets, but it also marks another excellent development opportunity with an experienced and committed partner in Golden Land development; a group we recently teamed with to develop and open a remarkable Fairmont hotel in Nanjing.

“Swissôtel Jinan, with its contemporary feel, innovative design, inspired service and quality in life guest programs, promises to be a magnificent hotel in the City of Springs,” he added.

Swissôtel Jinan will feature 248 rooms and suites, plus five F&B outlets, approximately 2,900m² of conference and banqueting space and the brand’s health club concept, Purovel Spa & Sport.

Located in the Han Yu district of Jinan, the hotel will form part of a mixed-use development featuring residential, retail and office buildings.

Swissôtel currently operates hotels in Beijing, Foshan, Kunshan and Shanghai, but will expand significantly in the coming years, with new properties scheduled to open in Changsha, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Sanya and Xi’an.
