Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces has launched its first luxury Vivanta by Taj property in India’s northeast.
The new Vivanta by Taj Guwahati is located in the largest city in Assam state, and features a design based on the Guwahati’s Kamakhya Temple.
The property was officially opened by Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister of Assam, in the presence of Rakesh Sarna, managing director & CEO of Taj.
“Pragjyotishpura in ancient Assam now called Guwahati in the modern era is the largest city of Assam, a major riverine port and one of the fastest growing cities in India. It is the natural crossroads for both business and leisure,” stated Gogoi.
“The number of tourists we welcome to Assam is growing year-on-year and it is a great pleasure to partner with Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces to serve this growth with the new Vivanta by Taj Guwahati.”
Vivanta by Taj Guwahati is spread over two hectares of courtyard gardens and features 150 rooms and suites. F&B options include restaurants serving northeast Indian, international and Asian cuisines, plus a tea lounge and bar, while the hotel also offers a spa, fitness centre, a large outdoor pool and more than 2,300m² of conference and banqueting space, including a 550m² ballroom.
The new hotel becomes the 28th Vivanta by Taj in India and the 31st worldwide.
