Technology-driven hotel brand BLOC has opened a new hotel at Gatwick’s South Terminal.
The new hotel has 245 rooms and allows guests to control their entire stay with their phone or tablet if they want, including unlocking the door and changing the light and temperature in the room.
Rates will start at GBP59 per night with features including monsoon showers, HD televisions and a view of the airport’s runway.
The hotel is next to the main departures security area close to the restaurants and shops, with food and beverage discounts available for guests.
“Our vision is for a stress-free and very affordable start to airport travel. Location is everything and actually to be situated within Gatwick will add to the whole customer experience,” said Rob Morgan, managing director of BLOC Hotels. “We see BLOC Gatwick to be our showcase and defining project for the BLOC brand and will set the foundations to go forward as we hope to open further hotels in city centres and transport hubs worldwide under our ambition to become a well-known international brand.”
The opening is BLOC’s first airport hotel.
