Thai AirAsia has unveiled a new service to China, plus additional flights on two other international routes.

Commencing on 21 February 2014, the low-cost carrier will launch the first ever direct flights between Chiang Mai and Hangzhou, in eastern China’s Zhejiang province. As well as being the only direct flight between the two cities, it will also become the airline’s first connection between Chiang Mai and mainland China. Thai AirAsia currently flies from northern Thai city to both Macau and Hong Kong.

For Chiang Mai, it marks the latest in a series of new connections to China, with Air China recently launching flights to the city direct from Beijing.

Meanwhile, Thai AirAsia has also announced plans to add more services on its Bangkok-Yangon and Bangkok-Siem Reap routes.

From 24 January 2014, the airline will operate four daily flights to Myanmar’s largest city (a rise of three per week). And then on 27 January, it will expand its Siem Reap service to twice daily (up from 10 per week). Both routes operate direct from Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport.

All of Thai AirAsia’s flights are operated using 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
