Thai AirAsia has expanded its domestic network with the launch of a new overland transfer service to the city of Surin, northeast Thailand.

Commencing on 14 May 2015, passengers will be able to connect to Surin via shuttle bus, from Thai AirAsia’s existing BangkokBuriram flights. Surin, which lies close to the border with Cambodia, is approximately one hour’s drive from Buriram. The city is famous for its annual elephant festival.

Santisuk Klongchaiya, commercial director of Thai AirAsia, said the new service “reaffirmed AirAsia’s commitment to creating a flight network that adds to traveller convenience and comfort with easy transfer services”.

Thai AirAsia offers a series of land and sea transfers to destinations that it cannot connect to by air. As well as Surin, the airline offers overland transfers to Pai (via Chiang Mai), Sukhothai (via Phitsanulok), Mahasarakam (via Khon Kaen or Roi Et), Kalasin (via Khon Kaen), Mukdahan (via Nakhon Phanom), Kanom (via Nakhon Si Thammarat) and Khao Lak (via Krabi).

It also offers boat transfers to the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lipe, Koh Ngai, Koh Yao Noi and Koh Tao.
