Thai AirAsia X has continued its push into the Middle East with the launch of its inaugural flight to Oman.
The long-haul low-cost carrier touched down in Oman’s capital Muscat for the first time on Tuesday, marking the start of a new thrice weekly service direct from Bangkok. The launch follows the recent start of Thai AirAsia X’s flights to Iran’s capital Tehran, which became its first ever Middle Eastern destination.
“Muscat is another much awaited destination of ours and with great support from alliances in Oman and Muscat International Airport, we are sure this route will become popular among travellers, both Thai and Omani,” said Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai AirAsia X.
He added that Omani travellers will be able to connect to destinations across Thailand, using AirAsia’s ‘Fly-Thru’ transit service at Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport.
Flights will now operate three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) using a two-class, 377-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
