Thai AirAsia has unveiled plans to launch three new domestic routes on the same day in 2015.
On 9 February 2014, the low-cost carrier will add twice daily flights to Nan and Loei in northern Thailand, and Roi Et in the country’s northeast. All flights will operate direct from Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport using a 180-seat, all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.
Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said the new routes form part of his airline’s plan to offer “full penetration of the [Thai] domestic market”.
“AirAsia has received stellar support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and many other agencies towards the launch of these three routes in the north and northeast,” said Tassapon.
“[We believe] they will create new opportunities for travellers as well for investment. Having all three flights… available twice a day in the morning and evening will facilitate the business segment.”
The three new routes will continue the domestic growth implemented by Thai AirAsia in 2014, including new Bangkok-Sakon Nakhon and Chiang Mai-Surat Thani routes.
The airline’s 2015 expansion will be driven by the addition of two more A320 aircraft, which are expected to join the Thai AirAsia fleet in January 2015.
