Thai AirAsia has launched its first ever international flight from southern Thailand’s Hat Yai Airport.
The new service will operate daily between Hat Yai and Johor Bahru, in southern Malaysia. Flights depart the southern Thai city at 1125 and arrive at Johor’s Senai International Airport at 1400. The return service then takes off at 1430 and arrives back in Hat Yai at 1510.
Like all Thai AirAsia flights, it will be operated by an all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.
Thai AirAsia currently connects Hat Yai with four domestic destinations: Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. But it will continue to expand from the airport later this month, with the launch of flights to Koh Kaen on 28 April. AirAsia’s Malaysian unit also operates flights from Kuala Lumpur to Hat Yai.
The arrival of Thai AirAsia also means that three of the group’s airlines now serve Johor Bahru. AirAsia Malaysia connects the city with 11 domestic and international destinations, including Bangkok, while Indonesia AirAsia operates services from Surabaya.
