Thai AirAsia X moves further into the Middle East

Following the recent announcement of its first flights to Iran, Thai AirAsia X has continued its Middle Eastern expansion with the launch of services to Oman.
The new direct service between Bangkok and Muscat will commence on 28 June 2016, six days after the launch of its inaugural flight to Tehran.
Services will run three times a week, departing the Thai capital’s Don Mueang Airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1520 and arriving in Muscat at 1810. The return flights will then leave the Omani capital at 1940 and arrive back in Bangkok at 0440 the next day.
The Bangkok-Tehran route, which starts on 22 June, will also run three times a week.
“The new Middle East routes are an important milestone for the airline, making it the first Thai low fare carrier to fly to the region,” said Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai AirAsia X. “The airline is confident that the two cities… will prove popular among Thai travellers. The new destinations also fit in with the Thai government and the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s strategies, which call for increased penetration of new markets.”
Both the Muscat and Tehran routes will be operated using Thai AirAsia X’s fleet of 377-seat, two-class Airbus A330-300 aircraft, which include 12 flat-bed seats in the premium cabin.
