Thai Airways (Middle East) this week flew 20 media and travel trade representatives from around the Middle East to Thailand as part of the joint effort between THAI and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to boost tourism to the country.
The Middle East venture forms part of the ‘Thailand Invitation Mega Familiarisation Trip’ which has already flown over 800 people to Thailand from across the globe presenting the ‘Seven Amazing Wonders of Thailand’ and a special ‘Visit Thailand 2009’ programme launch.

The ‘Mega Fam Trip’ is an effort by THAI and the TAT to show that the country is still safe to visit following recent political unrest in the country. Thirty different destinations covering all regions of Thailand have been offered to the various groups, with the Middle East party visiting Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai. The Middle East fam trip flew from Dubai to Bangkok on Tuesday 7 October, attending a reception exhibition in Bangkok along with the other 800 global media and travel trade representatives, hosted by THAI President, Apinan Sumanbaseni, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism & Sports, Weerasak Kowsurat, and TAT Governor, Phomsiri Manoham.

Picture shows the Middle East party is being welcomed by Michael Horn, General Manager of Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld.
