THAI Smile, the low-cost subsidiary of Thai Airways, will expand its international network next month with the launch of new services to Chongqing and Penang.
Effective 1 July 2016, the airline will commence daily flights between Bangkok and Chongqing, the largest city in western China. And then on 16 July it will launch daily flights to Penang, Malaysia. Both routes will operate in place of Thai Airways’ existing services.
The Chongqing service will operate on a split schedule, with flights departing Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 1030 or 1045 depending on the day, and arriving at Chongqing’s Jiangbei International Airport at 1450 or 1505. The return services will then leave at 1530 or 1605 and arrive back in Bangkok at 1740 or 1815.
The Penang flights will leave Suvarnabhumi daily at 1925 and arrive at 2210. The return flights will then depart at 0800 and land back in Bangkok at 0845.
THAI Smile will serve both routes using its fleet of 162-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
The airline currently flies to three international destinations – Yangon, Changsha and Siem Reap. But it plans to continue expanding in future, with new services to Surabaya, Medan and Cebu in the pipeline, as well as the relaunch of its Macau route.
