Thai Airways has revealed that it will start flying to Iran next month.

Commencing on 1 October 2016, the national carrier will operate four weekly flights direct between Bangkok and Tehran.

Flights will depart the Thai capital’s Suvarnabhumi Airport every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 1530 and arrive at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport at 1930. The return flights will then depart at 2100 on the same days of the week, and arrive back in Bangkok at 0655 the next morning.

THAI will deploy its twin-aisle Boeing 777-200 aircraft on the route.

This will mark the second new Bangkok-Tehran service to launch in recent months, following the start of Thai AirAsia X’s services in June.

The announcement of THAI’s new route was made at an event in Bangkok attended by the airline’s president, Charamporn Jotikasthira, and HE Mohsen Mohammadi, Iran’s Ambassador to Thailand.
