Thai Vietjet has finally announced its entry into Thailand’s domestic market with the launch of three new routes.

The budget airline has been operating international routes from Bangkok to Vietnam and India since late 2014. But it has now confirmed that it will enter the Thai domestic aviation market this month with three new routes: Bangkok-Phuket, Phuket-Chiang Rai and Bangkok-Chiang Mai.

“Three years ago, Thailand became Vietjet’s first international destination,” said Vietjet’s vice president, Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh. “There are now more than 300 Thai expats working in a variety of positions at Vietjet, which is also a driving force for us to further expand our flight network in Thailand today.

“We are committed to offering more air travel opportunities so Thai people can visit Vietnam and more Vietnamese people can visit Thailand’s amazing destinations in the coming,” she added.

As part of an agreement with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), one of Thai Vietjet’s Airbus A320 aircraft will be painted with an ‘Amazing Thailand’ livery.

Commencing on 15 September 2016, Thai Vietjet will operate daily flights between Bangkok and Phuket and three weekly services (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) between Phuket and Chiang Rai. Then on 26 September it will commence daily flights between Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Thai Vietjet will also launch a new international route linking Bangkok with Haiphong, the Vietnamese port city. These flights will operate four times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) from 9 November, and will complement Thai Vietjet’s existing daily services to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
