Thailand wants to capitalise on China’s MICE business

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau is to target Chinese business to increase its MICE business, it has announced.

The body plans to increase revenue to US$2.93 billion before the end of the year.

“We pursue global MICE excellence and international standards to drive our industry growth,” said Parichat Svetasreni, director of marketing & corporate image of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).

There will be a series of events scheduled in China to promote Thailand to those holding looking to host conferences in south east Asia.

“China is a big market which will be expanded by the reinforced ties and contact between China and ASEAN,” she told China Daily.

Last year Thailand saw 64,000 Chinese attend meetings and exhibitions, which was a 31% increase on the previous year.
