Absolute Hotel Services (AHS) has reached a major milestone in its global expansion plan, with the signing of its first ever hotel in Europe.
The Bangkok-based hotel group has penned a management deal for a new U Hotel in Istanbul. Opening in early 2016, the upscale U Istanbul will offer 40 rooms and suites in a four-storey building, plus a Thai restaurant with terrace and bar, a Thai cooking school, library, fitness centre and a spa with three treatment rooms.
And as with all U properties, the new hotel will offer a series of guest-friendly amenities such as 24-hour room rental from the time of check-in, free Wi-Fi and breakfast served “anytime, anywhere”.
“We are thrilled to introduce U Hotels & Resorts brand with its unique service offerings to Istanbul,” said Jonathan Wigley CEO of AHS. “This is not just our first property in Europe, but also gives us the opportunity to create and offer a new and iconic destination for our U’s guests who seek stylish and yet approachable service.”
U Istanbul will be located in the Sultanahmed area of Turkey’s largest city, close to many of the city’s main attractions including the Sultan Ahmed Mosque.
AHS has been expanding rapidly in recent years, with its U and Eastin brands launching in destinations across Southeast Asia, the Indian sub-continent and Middle East.
The upscale U Hotels & Resorts brand now has a portfolio of 21 hotels either operating or in the pipeline in Thailand, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Laos and now, Turkey. The company also recently launched its second flagship Eastin Grand hotel, following the rebranding of the former Movenpick hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
