Thailand’s Destination Eats takes over Scoozi Pizza
Thailand’s successful Scoozi Italian Restaurant Ltd., has been acquired by Thailand based Destination Eats a part of Destination Group. Destination Group owns and operates well known American’s franchises, Hooters and Hard Rock Cafe restaurants, across Thailand.
Signalling a desire to expand its food and beverage offerings, Destination Eats moves into the popular Italian-Pizza category that has seen exceptional growth in Thailand during the past 25 years.
Scoozi opened its first location in Bangkok in 1997 before expanding progressively to 24 branches across Bangkok by 2018. Scoozi restaurants specialized in Neapolitan-style wood fired pizza and pasta for both the dine-in and delivery markets and had gained a significant brand awareness for craft-style pizzas in the local market.
“We are delighted to expand our range of food and beverage brands in the Thai market, especially so with such a well-established brand as Scoozi,” said Mr. Gary Richard Murray, Chairman and Founder of Destination Group, adding “Scoozi is now relaunching under the Scoozi -Urban Pizza brand.”
The Scoozi brand repositioning will see a move away from the fine-dining feel and move into a more fast, casual dining experience which will become a destination for all. The new interior designs will offer a more modern and trendier vibe using repurposed materials, corrugated steel, exposed elements, and some graffiti artwork done by local artists.
“Scoozi, Urban Pizza is all about fresh ingredients and having fun coupled with a new millennium take on modern Italian casual dining and cuisine,” said Mr. Jourdan Perez, Managing Director of Scoozi, adding, “Our focus is in delivering authentic and local flavours all across the city. We have elevated our look and our menu with new fresh ingredients and added some exciting Thai, Japanese and Korean flavours.”
Savouring original wood-fired Italian pizza and authentic Italian food, is in high demand in Thailand. The growth plan for Scoozi, Urban Pizza for 2021 includes up to ten new locations at MRT – BTS and Food Court locations, three new Dine-in locations of 100 square meters each, five Shop House locations of 50 square meters each and a number of university locations.
