The latest industry appointments

DIMITRIOS KARAGKIOULES has become Etihad Airways’ new general manager for Thailand. With more than 20 years of airline experience, Karagkioules move to Bangkok from Athens, where he served as Etihad’s general manager for Greece. He has also held management roles at Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

KALPESH TANA has been announced as FRHI Hotels & Resorts’ new vice president and general counsel for the Middle East, Africa & India. Tana brings close to 20 years of legal experience to the role and joins FRHI from his most recent position as partner of head of retail, hotels & leisure with law firm, Osborne Clarke.

PATRICK ANDRES has been appointed to head up the new Asia Pacific headquarters of Duetto, the hotel software company. Based in Singapore, Andres will become Duetto’s new regional vice president for Asia Pacific. He previously served as Travelport’s regional managing director for Asia Pacific.

DENNIS WONG has been named as the new director of portfolio & asset management for Frasers Hospitality Group. Wong spent most of his career with Pan Pacific Hotels Group where he was director of performance management, but most recently he worked with Apara Hotel Advisers as senior asset manager.

DEBORAH WOOLLARD has been appointed vice president of human resources for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in Asia, Middle East and Africa. Ms Woollard joins IHG with more than 15 years’ HR experience. She has previously worked for Unilever and most recently served with Abbott Laboratories.

ADELINE NG has become InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) new vice president of strategy for Asia, Middle East & Africa (AMEA), based in Singapore. Ms Ng most recently worked for the US-based WhiteWave Foods Company, where she held roles in planning and finance. She has also worked for McKinsey & Company.

PASCAL BILLON has been appointed general manager of the Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort, which is due to open in mid-2015. Billon is no stranger to the Maldives, having most recently served as general manager of the five-star Lily Beach Resort & Spa. He has also been a GM for Starwood in Russia.

ANNE JOHNSTON has been appointed general manager of the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium hotel. A UK national, Ms Johnston previously worked as the hotel’s executive assistant manager for three years from 2008. She returns having spent two years in Europe, including a stint as GM of the Crowne Plaza Bratislava.

RAJAT CHATTERJEE has become the new general manager of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit and Marriott Executive Apartments Sukhumvit, Thonglor. An Indian national, Chatterjee first joined Marriott in 2002 as director of rooms at the JW Marriott Mumbai. He moves to Bangkok from the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel.

CLAUDE BENJAMIN PERERA has been promoted to the position of resident manager at the Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket. A Malaysian national, Perera joined the Thai resort in March 2014 as executive assistant manager in charge of food & beverage. He has previously worked in Indonesia, Singapore, Russia and Thailand.

WEE CHEE JIUAN has been named as the new director of business development for the Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur. CJ, as she is better known, brings more than 15 years of sales experience to the role, including a spell as a cluster director of sales for an international hotel chain in Malaysia.

I NYOMAN AGUS SUPARTA has been announced as the Harper Kuta Bali Hotel’s new sales manager. An Indonesian national, Agus started his career as a receptionist at the Sari Segara Resort Villas & Spa in 2006, and eventually rose to the position of assistant sales manager at another hotel in Kuta.
