CHEOK HUEI SHIAN has been appointed chief financial officer of AirAsia X. The move marks a promotion for Ms Cheok, who joined AirAsia in 2004 and has held several senior roles. Prior to AirAsia, she served with Ernst & Young. Ms Cheok is a qualified accountant and member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants.
PAMELA CONOVER has been named president & CEO of The World, Residences at Sea. Based in Florida, she will lead the company that claims to offer the “largest privately-owned residential yacht”. Ms Conover has more than 20 years of cruise industry experience, including spells with Seabourn and Cunard.
JAMES SIMMONDS has been appointed senior vice president of global development for Belmond. With a strong background in hotel consulting, Simmonds’ career has included spells with Ernst & Young and Mubadala. He joins Belmond from Rosewood, where he was senior vice president of development for Asia Pacific.
REX LOH has been promoted to the position of area director of sales & marketing for IHG Singapore, responsible for six hotels. With more than 16 years’ experience, Loh has worked with brands including Ritz-Carlton and Shangri-La. He joined InterContinental Singapore as director of sales & marketing in late 2013.
CLIVE EDWARDS has become the new general manager at the Ayana Resort & Spa Bali. A Jamaican national, Edwards joined Ayana in 2009 as director of rooms and executive assistant manager. He left to become corporate director of rooms at Capella’s head office in Atlanta, before returning to Bali in 2014 as interim GM.
FLORENT HUMEAU has become the new resident manager at the Grandkemang Hotel, Jakarta. A French national, Humeau has extensive hotel and F&B experience in Europe, China, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. Most recently he was F&B director at the Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan, Philippines.
SASCHA HEMMANN has been appointed general manager of the Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa, on the Thai resort island of Koh Phangan. A German national, Hemmann joins Anantara following a five-year stint with the Capella Hotel Group, managing hotels in Singapore, China and the USA.
ALEXANDER KANDALAFT has been appointed executive assistant manager of rooms at the Swissôtel Merchant Court hotel in Singapore. Kandalaft has 15 years’ hospitality industry experience in Singapore and the USA. Most recently he served as director of rooms at the Fairmont Battery Wharf hotel in Boston.
STANLEY CHANG has become the new food & beverage manager at the Six Senses Samui. Chang started his hospitality career as assistant restaurant manager of the Mirage in Las Vegas in 2006, before moving to the Maldives. He then worked for Hyatt in Korea before returning to the Maldives with the Beach House Collection.
