THOMAS OSTEBO has been appointed president & chief executive officer of the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), effective 6 July 2015. Ostebo has more than 30 years of experience in large organisations and joins CLIA from the US Coast Guard, where he served as Rear Admiral.
ALBERT CHEONG has become the new chief executive officer of Sunway International Hotels & Resorts. Cheong, who has 30 years of hospitality experience, first joined Sunway in January 2014 as group general manager of the company’s flagship property, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa in Kuala Lumpur.
HOLGER JAKOBS has been named as Movenpick Hotels & Resorts’ new vice president of sales & marketing for Asia. Jakobs has extensive experience in the Asian hotel sector, including spells as area director of sales & marketing for Six Senses and DOS for the St Regis Bangkok and St Regis Beijing.
JENNY ZHANG has been appointed chief executive officer of the China Lodging Group. Ms Zhang joined the Shanghai-based hotel group eight years ago, serving as chief financial officer until May 2015, as also as president since January 2015. Prior to joining China Lodging Group she was finance director of Eli Lilly (Asia).
ROBERT DOUGLAS has been appointed as Etihad Airways’ new general manager for Kazakhstan. Douglas, who assumes his new role on 1 July, has spent three decades in the aviation industry, including more than 10 years with Etihad. This has included spells managing the airline’s operations in Indonesia and Armenia.
YOTHIN UTHAPHU has been announced as the resort manager at the new Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort, which opens on 1 August 2015. A Thai national, Yothin has worked for several major hotel groups, most recently with Centara Hotels & Resorts in Thailand and the Maldives.
