MICHAEL UNGERER has been appointed as Carnival Corporation’s new chief operations officer for Asia. Ungerer joined AIDA Cruises in 1997 and served as the European cruise line’s president since July 2012. He will now be based at Carnival’s Asian office in Shanghai.
WILLIAM MARGARITIS has been named as Hilton Worldwide’s new executive vice president of corporate affairs, based at the company’s global headquarters in the US. Margaritis arrives at Hilton with 33 years’ experience, 15 of which were spent at FedEx Corporation.
TON VAN VILSTEREN has been announced as Jumeirah Group’s new chief financial officer. A Dutch national, Van Vilsteren previously worked his way up through the ranks at Hilton, from an initial management accountant role to head of finance for Asia Pacific – a role he has held since 2007.
PATRICK NGIAM has been appointed as Marco Polo Hotels’ new global director of sales. A seasoned industry professional, Ngiam has held senior positions at several hotel groups, including Hyatt, Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Marriott, during his 20-year career.
JITSAK LIM-PAKORNKUL has become the new general manager of Villa Zolitude Resort & Spa, a pool villa resort in Phuket. Khun Jitak joins the hotel will more than 17 years’ experience, including spells with Hilton and Starwood in Thailand and Anantara in the Maldives.
MARC GUSSING has been announced as the new general manager of the Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa. He joins the Thai resort following several positions in the Maldives, most recently as GM of the Per Aquum Huvafen Fushi, another Minor Hotel Group property.
ALFRED PAULSEN has been appointed general manager of the Dorsett Putrajaya hotel in Malaysia. Paulsen first joined Dorsett in 2008 as director of F&B at the Dorsett Grand Subang. He was later promoted to director of operations and most recent served as GM of the Dorsett Grand Labuan.
YANN HERVY has been appointed food & beverage director at Phuket’s Indigo Pearl Resort. A French national, Hervy has 15 years of experience in France, the UK, Caribbean, US and Canada. Most recently he served as F&B manager at the Anantara Phuket Layan Resort & Spa.
ESTEBAN FERNANDEZ-MARTIN has become the new director of marketing communications for two Starwood resorts in Bali – The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, and St Regis Bali Resort. A Spanish national, he has 13 years’ experience, the last five of which were spent with Starwood.
