CHARLES D. McKEE has been announced as Malaysia Airlines’ new head of marketing, effective 14 September. McKee has 27 years’ experience in the airline, hospitality and travel sectors, including spells with Air Canada and lastminute.com. Most recently he was VP of marketing at Canada’s Delta Hotels & Resorts.
SAMIE BARR has been named as Hyatt’s new vice president of global brands. Ms Barr, who has more than 25 years of consumer and retail experience, joins Hyatt from Starbucks, where she spent more than 14 years in a range of senior brand management roles. She has also worked for Nintendo.
FANNY YEUNG has been named general manager of Sabre Travel Network’s Hong Kong operations. Ms Yeung previously spent 20 years with Abacus, which was recently acquired by Sabre. She then moved to Travel Innovation Partners where she was responsible for product analysis and implementation support.
SANJAY JAYANTH has become Routes’ new head of business development for Asia. He moves to the global aviation events company having held roles with several airlines, including KLM, BA and Delta. Most recently Jayanth worked for GMR Group, the Indian company that operates Delhi and Hyderabad airports.
BARRY LO has been promoted to the position of general manager for the Silka Seaview and Silka West Kowloon in Hong Kong. Lo has worked for Dorsett Hospitality, which operates the two properties, since 2004, and was part of the pre-opening team for Silka West Kowloon and Silka Far East Hotel.
MARIA KUHN has become Belmond’s new corporate director of communications. Ms Kuhn joins the luxury hotel and travel company from Kempinski, where she spent the last three years as vice president of public relations. She has also held senior PR roles with Shangri-La and Four Seasons in Europe and Asia.
BELINDA GATES has been named as the new director of marketing at Thanyapura Phuket, the Thai sports and leisure resort. An Australian national, Ms Gates has more than 20 years’ experience in various sectors, accruing investments and interests across Australia, Dubai and Monaco.
