The latest industry appointments

LINDSAY WHITE has been named as Etihad Airways’ new vice president for Australia & Asia Pacific. White brings 30 years of aviation experience to the role, having held various senior management positions at BA and Gulf Air. Most recently he was Etihad’s vice president for Asia Pacific South & Australasia.

MICHAEL GIRESI has been appointed as Royal Caribbean Cruises’ new senior vice president & chief information officer. Giresi joins the company with more than 20 years of experience, including spells with Direct Brands, Godiva Chocolatier, Estee Lauder, and most recently Tory Burch, where he was chief information officer.

KEVIN KELLEY has become Galaxy Entertainment Group’s new chief operating officer for Macau. Kelley has 40 years of gaming, hospitality and entertainment experience, having previously held senior executive positions at various well-known casinos and hotels in Las Vegas and Macau.

EVON LER has been announced as Insight Vacations’ new president for Asia. Ms Ler recently relocated back to Singapore from Hong Kong, where she was Travelzoo’s director of sales for Southeast Asia. Other previous employers include Miki Travel, Westminster Travel, JAC Travel and Ananda.

ALAN CHANG has been named as Qantas’ new country manager for China, based in Shanghai. An experienced aviation and travel professional, Chang has previously worked in Taiwan and Canada, including a spell with Holiday Tours & Travel. Most recently he was Emirates’ regional sales manager for Taiwan.

ED BREA has been appointed general manager of the One&Only Hayman Island in the Great Barrier Reef. Brea joins the luxury resort with more than 30 years’ experience in the luxury hospitality industry, including spells with Hyatt and Shangri-La in the North America, Greater China and Southeast Asia.

SASCHA HEMMANN has been appointed general manager of the Anantara Phuket Layan Resort & Spa. He moves to Phuket from his previous position as GM of the Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa. A German national, Hemmann previously spent five years with Capella in Singapore, China and the US.

MANISH JHA has been named as the new general manager of the Anantara Hua Hin Resort & Spa. Jha moves to Thailand from his most recent position as GM of the Avani Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa. An Indian national, he has 15 years’ experience, nine years of which have been with Minor Hotel Group.

CRAIG SYPHERS has been appointed general manager of the Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel in Singapore. An Australian national, Syphers has worked at several hotels in Australia and New Zealand. Most recently he spent three years as general manager of the Parkroyal Melbourne Airport.

AYUSH CHOUDHRY has become IHG’s new area director of sales & marketing for Indochina, based at the InterContinental Asiana Saigon. Choudry moves into the new role having worked for hotels across Asia, most recently as the area director of revenue management for IHG in the Philippines.

ANTHONY DUPONT has become the new director of sales & marketing at the Indigo Pearl, Phuket. An Anglo-Frenchman, Dupont joins the luxury resort with more than 20 years’ experience, including recent spells with Ani Villas in Thailand and Sri Lanka, and Asian river cruise operator Pandaw.
