The latest industry appointments

MICHEL MOLLIET has become chief operating officer of AccorHotels in Greater China, overseeing the management of the group’s 125 properties in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Molliet joined the company in 1987 and most recently served as senior vice president of luxury upscale brands for Greater China.

DAVID ZHOU has been announced as the new chief operating officer of eLong, effective 6 January 2016. The move marks a promotion for Zhou, who has served as the Chinese online travel company’s chief strategy officer since July 2015. He previously worked in Ernst & Young as a senior auditor.

ROBERT SOHN has been elected as the new president for Skal Asia. A Korean national, Sohn takes on the new role in addition to his responsibilities as president & CEO of Promac Partnership, chairman of the ANTOR in Korea, and the Korean representative for Tourism Western Australia.

VISHAL SURI has been appointed managing director of Kuoni Travel India, which was recently acquired by Thomas Cook India. Suri move to the new unit from his previous role as Kuoni India’s CEO for tour operating. Thomas Cook India completed the 100% acquisition of Kuoni Travel India in December.

SOOJIN YU has been named as Hawaiian Airlines’ new country director and chief representative for South Korea. Ms Yu brings more than 25 years of experience to the role, most recently serving as Renault Samsung Motors’ China business manager for the Asia Pacific region, based in Seoul.

KARISHMA KAUL has been appointed as Goway Travel’s new product and marketing manager for Asia. She joins the company’s wholesale brand, Asia by Goway, with 20 years of industry experience, and will now oversee the Goway’s operations in 20 Asian countries.

GINDO S. SIANTURI has been named as Absolute Hotel Services’ new area general manager for Indonesia. He moved to the expanded role having served as general manager of the company’s U Paasha hotel in Bali since 2013. Previous assignments have included roles with Four Seasons, Hyatt, IHG and Raffles.

PAUL WILSHER has been appointed general manager of Oakwood Apartments Brisbane, which opens in April. He moves to the serviced residence following a 27-year career than has included spells with Constellation, Rydges, IHG and SilverNeedle, most recently as GM of the Sage Hotel Wollongong.

VIKTORIA EGLI has been appointed to lead the guest experience team at the Monttra Pattaya resort. A Swiss national, Ms Egli joins the newly-opened Thai hotel from the Hotel Baur au Lac in Switzerland, which forms part of The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW).
