The latest industry appointments

TOMOE MAKINO has become TripAdvisor’s new country manager for Japan. He joins the travel site from Twitter, where he served as senior growth director for Japan. Makino has also held senior roles at Google in business development, content partnerships, as well as YouTube sales and operations.

ROB GURNEY has been appointed as the new CEO of oneworld, succeeding Bruce Ashby. Gurney will join the airline alliance in October after leaving Emirates, where he served as senior vice president of commercial operations for the Americas. He previously spent 25 years with oneworld members BA and Qantas.

ANDREW CORNELIO has been announced as the new director of sales & marketing at the soon-to-open Radisson Blu Resort Hua Hin. He will bring 20 years of hospitality experience to the resort, including spells with Dusit International, IHG and Thavorn Hotels & Resorts.

JAMES CHOW has been appointed director of sales & marketing for the new Kerry Hotel Hong Kong. Chow moves to the new role having held the same position at the Shangri-La Futian in Shenzhen. Prior to joining Shangri-La he was director of sales & marketing at the Banyan Tree Macau.

STEVEN BRESH has been named as Malaysia Airlines’ new head of leisure sales for the UK. Bresh, who will primarily be tasked with oversee the airline’s partnerships with UK tour operators, has 20 years’ experience including senior positions with Kuoni, TUI and Virgin Holidays.

NOVIANI SAPUTRA has become hotel manager at the Pop Hotel Timoho Yogyakarta. Ms Saputra’s career spans more than 20 years, having started as a front office agent at the Sahid Hotel. She joined Tauzia Hotel Management in 2013 as assistant hotel manager at another Pop hotel in Yogyakarta.

KANCHALIKAR PHRUTTISARIKORN has been appointed director of PR & marketing communications for 137 Pillars Hotels & Resorts, the boutique brand. Jojo, as she is better known, most recently served as PR & marketing communications manager at The Unique Collection of Hotels & Resorts.
