Martin Modarelli has been named commercial director for LATAM Airlines Group in the UK and northern Europe. Modarelli will be based in the group’s London office and has worked at LAN Airlines since 2009 where he helped integrate the airline into LATAM.
Martin Randall and Richard Downs have both joined the ABTA board. Randall, who is chief executive of Martin Randall Travel, will represent principal members with a turnover of less than GBP50 million. Downs, who is founder and CEO of Iglu.com, will bring his entrepreneurship to the board.
Dr. Aysegul Gurgezoglu and Ali Selcuk Can have been announced as new directors at the Turkish Culture & Tourism Office in London. Gurgezoglu and Can have joined the tourism office as it plans new activity in the UK market. Gurgezoglu is an ex-deputy director of TCTO from 2009-2012, where Can was previously an internal auditor at the Ministry of Culture & Tourism in Turkey.
Mark Povall has been named as the new director of air service development at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Povall will be responsible for developing traffic and capacity at the airport and joins from five years at the Abu Dhabi Airports Company where he led the airline marketing team.
Desiree Fish has been appointed vice president, global communications at TripAdvisor. Fish joins the website from 13 years at American Express where she was most recently vice president, corporate affairs and communications.
Anitra Elliott has been appointed operations manager for the UK at ATP Event Experts. Rachel Robinson Boggas has also joined ATP as event manager for UK operations while Monica Steri has been promoted to account manager. The team will serve as support for ATP’s work during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Tom Ross has been named hotel director at the new The Pig-near Bath. Ross will oversee the hotel’s launch in winter and is son of hoteliers Stephen and Penny Ross who own and run the Homewood Park Hotel and The Queensbury Hotel. Tom’s own hotelier experience spans 11 years in Winchester, California, Brighton, Cheltenham and Oxford.
Natalie Maynard has joined conference and business accommodation agent ExecSpace as regional account director for the west of Scotland. Maynard joins the company from 5pm.co.uk where she was sales director and has also worked for Malmaison and Hotel du Vin.
Graheme Chilton has been appointed non-executive director at Air Partner. Chilton retired in 2012 from insurance broker Aon Corporation and remains a non-executive chairman of Aon Holdings. He was also CEO of reinsurance broker the Benfield Group for 12 years before it was bought by Aon.
