The latest industry appointments

KRISHNA SURI has been appointed resort manager at Al Nahda Resort and Spa. He bring with him extensive hospitality experience from roles in India, Tanzania and East Africa and positions with the Taj Group of Hotels, IHG and Radisson.

SADEK MIYA has been appointed executive chef at Al Nahda Resort and Spa. He brings with him over 19 years of industry knowledge with previous positions held in Egypt, India and Oman. Miya’s skills are showcased in the creation of exciting seafood dishes.

AVNISH KUMAR has been appointed executive housekeeper at Al Nahda Resort and Spa. He brings with him over 11 years’ experience inhousekeeping with international hotel groups, including Kempinski and Oberoi and comes most recently from LUX Maldives.

DINESH DAHIYA has been appointed director of sales at Al Nahda Resort and Spa. He joins in from his previous role as general manager of TUI India. Dahiya brings over 15 years’ experience in the hospitality industry with previous roles in Accor and Starwood.

ORHAN ABBAS has been appointed senior vice president, commercial operations, Latin America, Central and Southern Africa. He has worked across several countries in senior positions such as Iran, South Africa and India among others.

LINDA STEEGER has been appointed director of sales and marketing for Emirates Palace. She will be working to support the hotel’s sales and marketing activities and will lead her team as they continue to grow in up and coming markets like China, Japan, Russia, and Brazil. Steeger brings with her more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

AYMAN VALAPPIL has been promoted to executive chef at the Grand Millennium Dubai. Chef Ayman has nearly three decades of experience working cooking Continental, Indian, Arabic and Asian Cuisines. CHEF WILLIAM FRANCISCO XAVIER DIAS has been promoted to executive sous chef from his existing position of senior sous chef at Grand Millennium Dubai. CHEF ALAA AL NACHAR has been promoted to senior sous chef moving up from his role as oriental chef at Grand Millennium Dubai.

AHMAD HUSSAIN BIN ESSA has been appointed executive director of operations at Global Village. He brings with him over 12 years of experience in a number of the most prominent organisations in the UAE. Ahmad has worked for the ADNOC Group, the Engineer’s Office in Dubai and Du.

FAHAD AL KHAJA has been appointed director government relations and administration departments at Global Village. He brings with him over 20 years’ experience in management and governmental relations. Fahad has previously worked as head of governmental relations and protocol at The Dubai Film Festival and at customer care centre in TECOM Investments.

AHMED ABDULRAHIM AL MARRI has been appointed commercial director at Global Village. He brings with him more than 15 years of business experience in communications at Etisalat. Al Marri was recently senior manager for regional sales center coordination and retail sales fit-out in addition to managing sales and outlets.

AMEYA SAPRE has been appointed director of food and beverage at Park Rotana Abu Dhabi. He has worked across varied hospitality companies such as Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Hilton Hotels & Resorts. Ameya will be managing the six dining venues of Park Rotana Abu Dhabi.

ADIL AL GHAITH has been appointed vice president, commercial operations for Northern and Western Africa. Prior to the appointment, Al Ghaith was appointed designate sales manager for Australia, based in Melbourne for two years. From 2001 to 2007, he was the area manager for Yemen, Qatar and Egypt.

KAMEL AJAMI has been appointed the first country manager for Jordan, Hilton Worldwide. He brings with him over three decades of experience to the newly created role and is central to the company’s growth and expansion strategy. Ajami will oversee all operational matters and support Hilton Worldwide’s growth plans in exploring new opportunities in Jordan.

SHERIF EL MANSOURY has been appointed director of sales and marketing at Rosewood Corniche. El Mansoury has joined Rosewood Corniche from Mosaic Palais Aziza & Spa Hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco. With 13 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, El Mansoury will assume responsibility for the full sales and marketing portfolio of Rosewood Corniche.

EHAB BARGHOUTH has been appointed general manager at Hilton Alexandria Green Plaza. Barghouth joined Hilton Worldwide in 2008 and was formerly regional director of revenue for Hilton Worldwide Egypt & Levant before moving into operations.

MICHAIL MICHAIL has been appointed general manager at Hilton Hurghada Long Beach Resort. He brings with him over 25 years hotel and hospitality experience, Michail joined Hilton Worldwide as a general manager at Hilton Hurghada Long Beach Resort following a strong background in Egypt from Cairo to Dahab and Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada.

MEHDI OTHMANI has been appointed general manager at Hilton Hurghada Plaza. Othmani joined Hilton Worldwide as general manager following over 15 years hotel experience in Egypt including Taba and El Quseir.

MAGDY METWALLY takes on additional responsibility as Cluster GM for three properties – Hilton Sharm Dreams Resort, Hilton Sharm El Sheikh Fayrouz Resort and Hilton Nuweiba Coral Resort. He joined Hilton Worldwide in 1992 and has had a number of hotel operational and management positions across Egypt.

YASMIN SATI has been appointed director of public relations for Four Seasons Hotel Amman. Prior to joining the team at Four Seasons, Yasmin worked at a PR agency for seven years, boasting a wide range of experience with corporations and industries.

GREG ALLAN has been appointed area vice president – Abu Dhabi and Al Ain for Rotana Hotels. In his extensive career, he has held various positions as general manager of hotels in Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia with his last position being the vice president – rooms, food & beverage, head of marketing at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.

SOMA ALI has been appointed senior sales manager at Concorde by Mourouj Fujairah. Ali has over nine years of sales experience and has previously worked in Holiday Inn Sharjah and Rotana Hotel and Resort Sharjah. Ali will be responsible in maximising revenue. She is also tasked to develop strong sales strategies in order to achieve the sales target.

RAMI ENNABA has been appointed financial controller at Concorde by Mourouj Fujairah. He specializes in audit fields in hotels and has more than five years of experience in the industry. As the new financial controller, Ennaba is responsible in establishing and executing internal controls over the hotel accounting and financial procedures of the hotel.
