NICK WEIR has become Royal Caribbean International’s new vice president of entertainment. A former presenter of the UK gameshow ‘Catchphrase’, Weir has 25 years of experience and comes from a cruise background – his mother was a cruise ship entertainer and his father a cruise director.
BRONWEN BATEY has been appointed as Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts’ new regional director of marketing communications for the EMEA region. Previously director of strategic accounts at Banyan Tree, Ms Batey has experience developing marketing and brand campaigns in Europe.
MARK IRWIN has been named as the new general manager of the Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island. With more than 13 years of hotel industry experience, Irwin has previously held positions at with Hyatt and IHG in Australia and China. He previously worked at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong.
PHILIPPE FRUGERE has joined Sun Hotels & Resorts as the new general manager of the Olhuveli Beach & Spa Resort in the Maldives. A French national, Frugere has more than 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, most recently as group GM at the Al Nahda Resort & Spa in Muscat.
ARIELLE MELOUL-WECHSLER has become Air Canada’s new vice president of human resources. The move marks a promotion for Ms Meloul-Wechsler, who currently serves as the airline’s senior director of human resources. Prior to joining Air Canada she practised law.
MICHIEL DE KLEER has been appointed as the new executive assistant manager of the Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park. A Dutch national, de Kleer arrives in Thailand from Vietnam, were he served as the director of F&B in Sheraton Saigon. He will now be responsible for both F&B and rooms.
RAJESH DEWAN has been appointed as the new director of finance at the Singapore Marriott Hotel. As qualified chartered accountant, Dewan has 15 years of experience in the industry. He started his career at Hotel Yak and Yeti in Kathmandu before moving to India and Singapore.
PAULINE NG has joined the Singapore Marriott Hotel as its new director of sales. Ms Ng joined the hospitality industry in 2000 and most recently served as assistant director of sales for MICE at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore, prior to joining the Singapore Marriott Hotel.
DEBORAH VALLORANO has been announced as Pan Pacific Hotels Group’s new global sales manager for North America, based in New York. Ms Vallorano joins Pan Pac with more than 20 years of experience, including a six-year stint as national sales manager for Destinations Hotels & Resorts.
