CALIN ROVINESCU has been named as the new chairman of IATA. Rovinescu, who is president & CEO of Air Canada, succeeds Delta’s Richard Anderson in the role, and will now serve a one-year term. Prior to joining Air Canada in 2000 he spent more than 20 years in the legal profession.
DEAN SCHREIBER has been appointed as Oakwood Worldwide’s new managing director for Asia. A hospitality industry veteran, Schreiber brings nearly 30 years of experience to the role, including assignments in Asia and the Middle East. He previously served as senior vice president of operations at Pan Pacific.
DENNIS CHANT has become president of Airports Council International (ACI) Asia Pacific. Currently managing director of Queensland Airports Limited, Chant has been a regional board director for ACI since October 2004 and now takes over from outgoing president, Bashir Ahmad bin Abdul Majid.
LISA BOVIO has been appointed chief marketing officer at the Aman Group. Ms Bovio joins the resort operator from Kerzner International where she most recently held the position of senior vice president of international sales & marketing. Aman is relocating its headquarters from Singapore to London.
PHILIPP GRAF VON HARDENBERG has been announced as the new president & CEO of Thanyapura Phuket, the sports resort and training complex. A German national, Graf von Hardenberg has worked for Ritz-Carlton and also established a school for underprivileged children in Thailand’s Phang Nga province.
JOHN GERRARD has been appointed as Outrigger’s new area general manager for Australia and GM of the Outrigger Surfers Paradise in Queensland. Originally from Sydney, Gerrard was formerly an operational consultant for Temple Tree and Bon Ton Resorts in Malaysia. He has also worked for IHG and Taj Hotels.
MARC VON ARNIM has been appointed general manager of the Park Hyatt Sydney. An Australian national, Von Arnim’s career with Hyatt spans 22 years. He first joined Hyatt Regency Coolum in 1992 and has since held positions in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, before becoming GM of Hyatt Regency Auckland in 2008.
ARIANE GORIN has been promoted to the position of senior vice president and general manager for the Expedia Affiliate Network (EAN). Ms Gorin previously led the Expedia group’s market management organisation in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for 14 months, and has also worked for Microsoft.
DEXTER CHIA has become the new global senior vice president of sales & marketing for Regent Hotels & Resorts. Chia brings more than 25 years of experience to the role, most recently as vice president of sales & marketing for the Rosewood Hotel Group. He has also worked for IHG, Shangri-La and Pan Pacific.
