SORAJAK KASEMSUVAN has been named as the new President of Thai Airways International, replacing Piyasvasti Amranand who was deposed in June. He is currently Chairman of the state-run Thai broadcasting company MCOT, and is a former advisor to the Thai government.
DAVID KATEMOPOULOS has been appointed General Manager of Starwood’s newest Luxury Collection hotel in China, Twelve at Hengshan in Shanghai. Katemopoulos joined Starwood in 2001 and served at properties in Shanghai, Haikou, Macao and Xiamen.
JOHN O’SHEA has been appointed General Manager of The Langham Xintiandi in Shanghai. An experienced hotelier, O’Shea has 30 years experience, 18 of which were spent as a General Manager or Managing Director, mainly in Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan and China.
DAVID SULLIVAN has been announced as General Manager of the soon-to-open Parkroyal on Pickering in Singapore. A Canadian national, Sullivan has more than 25 years of hospitality experience, including spells with Four Seasons, Regent and Abercrombie & Kent.
CHRIS ELY has been appointed General Manager of the Maldives resort, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi. The move marks a promotion for Ely, who joined the resort’s pre-opening team in 2010 as Director of Operations. He previously worked in the fitness industry in the UK.
CHRIS BERGER has been retained as General Manager of the Outrigger Phuket Beach Resort, Phuket. Outrigger agreed to buy the resort in July and Berger will continue as GM, overseeing the completion of renovations at the property, which is scheduled to reopen on 1 April 2013.
LUDOVIC GALLERNE has been appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa. Gallerne has been with Marriott in Thailand since 2007 and moves from the Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa, which was rebranded from the Bangkok Marriott Resort.
AINUN ABDUL RAOFF has become the new Spa Manager at the Private Spa Wellness Center in Bali. She joins the resort following several years as manager of the Banyu Spa at Bali’s Private Spa Corp, and has also worked for the wellness centres at Ritz-Carlton and Como resorts.
