The Monarch Group has launched its own foundation to help numerous charities and the communities it operates in.
The Monarch Foundation is to initially work with seven charities and builds on its previous fundraising efforts which has raised more than GBP3 million for Macmillan Cancer Support during 24 years.
As well as Macmillan, the foundation has selected When You Wish Upon A Star, Children in Need, Home-Start UK, Toe in the Water, Dick Camplin Education Trust and The Homeless World Cup for the first three-year period with new charities to be announced each May.
The group will provide up to GBP1,000 in funds for its own employees’ efforts.
“The Group’s charitable engagement has down the years delivered excellent results for Monarch and our charity partners, and is something which we can be proud of,” said executive chairman Iain Rawlinson. “The size and nature of our Group today is such that we should be in a position to make an even more effective commitment to a wider range of charities across all of the communities where we operate, and at the same time enable us to positively reinforce the values of our brands to our many millions of customers.”
In its flight development, the airline added flights from Birmingham to Bordeaux and Split this week.
