Thomas Cook to ditch its airline business?

Thomas Cook Group is looking to ditch its airline business as part of a cost-saving plan, according to report in the Sunday Times. 
The travel company has quietly been approaching potential buyers over the last few months, although no deal has been reached asserted unnamed sources in the paper.
Thomas Cook recently said it expected growth this year despite tough trading conditions and the surprise stepping down of former chief executive Harriet Green.
The last few years have seen the company tackling its debt, with job cuts and store closures in a bid to turn the company around.
The company said in a statement is was “always open for opportunities”.
“We are very pleased with the development of our airlines,” it continued.
“We have refurbished the cabins of our long-haul fleet and added long-haul aircraft to our Condor fleet in Germany and the UK. We see our airlines as an important part of our business.”
The company has 88 planes, making it the 11th largest airline operator in Europe. It has also ordered 25 new Airbus A321s to replace older planes.
