Thomson Cruises has announced one of its ships will homeport in Jamaica next year.
Thomson Dream will call Montego Bay its home from 23 December 2014 and will be the only UK ship to homeport in the country.
As a result five new itineraries will be offered, covering ‘Cuban Fusion’, ‘Mayan Treasures’, ‘Mexican Medley’, ‘Pride of Panama’ and ‘Festive Flavours’.
Thomson Celebration has recently had its cabins refurbished and 26 private balconies added as part of a Platinum upgrade and will operate from Bridgetown, Barbados with three itineraries. Iles Des Saintes, Guadeloupe is a new destination for the cruise line from Barbados. A total of 11 new ports are available for 2014 including Playa del Carmen, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; Costa Maya, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; Cartagena, Colombia; San Blas, Panama; Colon, Panama; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; La Romana, Dominican Republic and Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Its cruises will be accessible by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner as Thomson Airways expands the aircraft across its long-haul routes, with Fraser Ellacott, customer operations director for Thomson Cruises saying cruise and stay now accommodates for 30% of its programme.
“We are extremely excited about our itinerary portfolio for winter 2014/15 and have really listened to what our customer want. We are also continuing to invest in modernising and enhancing the experience on board, with the addition of private balconies on the Thomson Celebration as just one example,” he added.
In addition to the new Caribbean offering, Thomson Cruises will offer themed cruises for the first time. The first will depart Lanzarote on 4 December 2014 with a Big Band theme, followed by a Soul and Motown themed crossing from Barbados departing 12 April 2015.
