Three new upscale hotels open in Qatar

Three new upscale hotels have opened in Qatar – the Shangri-La Doha, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Doha Old Town and The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa.

The three properties bring an additional 820 rooms and suites to Doha’s inventory.

This supply boost comes at a time when tourist numbers are on the rise.

In the second quarter of 2016, Qatar welcomed more than 1.44 million visitors according to the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), with March witnessing record numbers.

The Shangri-La Hotel Doha is located in the West Bay and presents guests with a unique blend of Asian and Qatari hospitality. Each of the 272 guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with spectacular views of the city or the gulf complemented by chic interiors. Guests can work out in the state-of-the-art gym or relax by the outdoor pool with a swim up bar and impressive tree-lined pool deck. Rejuvenating treatments are available at the luxurious CHI spa, which features eight private treatment rooms, an outdoor hydrotonic pool, and a team of highly skilled therapists.

The five-star Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Doha Old Town is located in Old Salata, providing visitors with easy access to the Corniche and The Museum of Islamic Art. The hotel features spacious rooms and suites with floor to ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the city, and a unique all-day dining restaurant open 24-hours. Guests can take advantage of the gym, steam room and sauna, or enjoy views of the city from the rooftop bar and relax at the rooftop pool.
The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa is conveniently located in the heart of Doha’s Bin Mahmoud residential district and offers a tranquil retreat comprising of 365 rooms including 22 suites, five private pool villas and six restaurants and bars. The Westin Heavenly spa, a wellness haven, is home to nine treatments rooms, relaxation area, three pools both indoor and outdoor and an extensive gym.
Three more high-end properties will open in Qatar’s capital in late 2016, early 2017 – the Mondrian Doha, Mandarin Oriental Doha and The Waldorf Astoria Doha, adding 766 rooms, suites and apartments to the market.

The Mondrian Doha will feature innovative bars and restaurants featuring both regional and international cuisine, an indoor/outdoor rooftop pool, ultra-modern meeting and conference venues and a world class spa. It will be located in the West Bay Lagoon neighbourhood.

The Mandarin Oriental Doha will be situated in Musheireb adjacent to Souq Waqif and the city’s business centre in West Bay.

The hotel will feature 160 elegantly styled guestrooms and suites as well as 95 serviced apartments. Other facilities will include an all-encompassing spa with 10 private treatment rooms as well as a vitality pool, an indoor pool and fitness centre as well as providing Doha with a variety of new restaurants.

Opening in 2017, the 43 floor tower in West Bay will provide guests with panoramic views of the city and the Arabian Gulf. The property will include 311 hotel rooms, 25 apartments, several specialty restaurants, a luxurious spa and large function spaces, including a grand ballroom.
