Tibet Airlines receives new Airbus jet
Tibet Airlines has taken delivery of a new Airbus A319.
The new single-aisle aircraft was assembled at the Airbus Tianjin Final Assembly Line (FALC) in China, and now becomes the fifth A319 to join Lhasa-based Tibet Airlines’ fleet.
The latest aircraft offers 128 seats in a two-class layout, with eight premium seats and 120 in economy class, and will initially operate the route from Lhasa to Shenzhen, via Chengdu. Due to the high altitude of Lhasa’s Gongga Airport, which sits more than 3,600 metres above sea level, the new A319 comes equipped with RNP-AR (Required Navigation Performance – Authorisation Required) and Satcom to help it navigate the mountainous landscape.
“We are honoured that our modern Airbus A319 aircraft will contribute to the development of civil aviation on the Tibetan plateau and I’m really confident that the FALC assembled A319 will serve the need of Tibet Airlines”, said Laurence Barron, president of Airbus China.
Airbus has now delivered 105 Tianjin-assembled A320-series aircraft to 11 operators since the opening of the Chinese FALC in 2008.
