Tigerair Australia has continued expanding from its new Brisbane base, with the launch of direct flights to Darwin and Cairns.

The low-cost carrier inaugurated the new routes on 15 April 2014 and will now fly daily to both cities. The new Darwin services leave Brisbane at 2045, arriving in the Northern Territory’s state capital at 0025 the next morning. The return services will then leave Darwin at 0115, getting back into Tigerair’s Queensland hub at 0525.

On the Cairns route, flights leave Brisbane at 1155 and arrive in the north Queensland city at 1420. The return leg then leaves Cairns at 1450, getting back to Brisbane at 1655.

All flights will be operated using the airline’s all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.

“We’re a volume business and our network evolves based on demand for our services,” said Tigerair Australia’s CEO, Rob Sharp. “In responding to this consumer demand it makes commercial sense to connect Brisbane, the heart of Queensland, with the top end and provide a cost-effective means of getting quickly between the two.”

Tigerair established its new Brisbane base in March, and now offers flights from the Queensland capital to Sydney and Adelaide, as well as Darwin and Cairns.
