Tourico Holidays has achieved a 300% increase in revenue from its car rental business.

The global travel wholesaler said the growth was driven by its network of direct connect partnerships, and as a result, Tourico has now established a new team that will be dedicated to its car rental business.

“Tourico has direct connect car rental partnerships in more than 100 different countries and our distribution clients are afforded real-time availability and prices that only a high-volume buyer can secure,” said Ofir Cohen, the company’s executive vice president of strategic development.

“I think the results of our improved car rental sector speak for themselves. The more product that gets sold through our channels, the more car rental companies realise the value that we can bring to their business.”

Currently, Tourico has direct connect partnership with Hertz, Avis-Budget Group, Sixt and Enterprise Holdings, which operates the Enterprise, Alamo and National brands. And the company said it is currently finalising deals with Europcar, Advantage Rent a Car, E-Z Rent-A-Car and Dollar & Thrifty.

As part of its car rental strategy, Tourico Holidays has now appointed Konni Marshall as its new vice president of business development for car rentals. Ms Marshall knows the industry inside out, having previously spent 27 years with Hertz.

And Yoseph Parpara, who previously served as the head of Tourico’s connectivity development & integration, will now lead the development of the company’s car rental technology.

“The car rental sector of Tourico has exploded in the past year and with a specialised new team and added focus, there’s no reason we can’t [quadruple] our growth again in 2016,” Ms Marshall said.
