Tourism Ireland hosted several Indian travel agents at its recent trade fair, Meitheal 2016.

The workshop brought together 310 overseas buyers and 455 Irish tourism businesses for two days of business deals, including eight Indian agents.

The Meitheal 2016 workshop focused on providing more information about Ireland’s tourism attractions and destinations, such as Dublin, the ‘Ancient East’ and the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’. A fam trip itinerary also allowed agents to explore the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin, Trinity College and The Waterford Crystal Centre.

Huzan Fraser Motivala, Tourism Ireland’s Indian representative, commented; “India is an important market for Tourism Ireland and one that we are committed to growing. Over the last five years, we have seen a year-on-year increase of over 25% in Indian visitor arrival numbers to the island of Ireland.”

Indians are also being encouraged to visit Ireland as part of a twin centre holiday with the UK, with the British and Irish governments having recently launched the ‘British-Irish Visa Scheme’ that lets Indian tourists travel to the two countries on the same visa.
