Tourism Malaysia focuses on Halal segment

Recent statistics from Tourism Malaysia state that in 2014, Malaysia received a total of 19,772 tourists from UAE, signifying a drop of 0.3% compared to 19,830 in 2013.
In a bid to boost tourism numbers and carve a new niche, Tourism Malaysia is focusing on the potential Halal tourism segment.
The tourism authority will participate in the forthcoming World Halal Travel Summit & Exhibition (WHTS15) in Abu Dhabi. The three-day event will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Tourism Malaysia’s senior director of international promotion (Asia/Africa) Datuk Musa Yusof will be headed to UAE with a 14-member Malaysian delegation across eight organisations. The delegation comprises hotels and tour agents, as well as the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC).
The tourism authority will highlight the through a case study presentation insights, tips, and best practices on destination management and marketing strategies on how to cater to Muslim travellers. In addition, Tourism Malaysia is collaborating with Etihad Airways to organise workshops in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai, where business session will be held for local industry players to meet, network, and establish business opportunities with their counterparts from Malaysia.
