Authorities in Indonesia have imposed a 2km restriction area around a West Java volcano, which is showing signs of increased volcanic activity. The AP reported that 2,665-metre Mount Papandayan, which is one of Indonesia’s most popular climbing peaks, started emitting noxious gases late last week. Officials have now banned locals and tourists alike from the vicinity of two of the volcano’s four craters. Mount Papandayan, which lies southwest of Bandung, last erupted in 2002.
