TransAsia to start fleet expansion
TransAsia Airways will receive its first Airbus A330-300 aircraft this November.
The Taiwanese airline currently operates a fleet of 18 aircraft, but the delivery of the new A330-300 will mark a phase of considerable expansion for the carrier. The wide-body jet is the first of 22 new aircraft on firm order, comprising two A330-300s, six A321-200s and six Airbus A321neos and eight ATR72-600s.
The second A330 will be delivered in January 2013, and all deliveries are due to be completed by 2022.
“The delivery of new A330-300 aircraft will further enhance our quality of service, as well as our passengers’ flight experience. They will service TransAsia’s international routes to provide medium-haul passengers a more comfortable journey with an advanced in-flight entertainment technology and spacious seating,” said TransAsia’s Chairman, Vincent M. Lin.
With the expanded fleet, TransAsia plans to roll-out routes to several major Asian cities, and potentially its first destinations in Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
