Travel managers are focused on finding more innovative ways of saving money this year, a new Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) survey has found.
A report based on results from 970 managers in the EMEA region found 66% were prioritising ways to save money, while 53% are focused on their online services.
Potential ways of saving money could include automated airfare tracking and rebookings or door-to-door travel booking, while also cutting costs on roaming fees and taxi travel.
In the UK specifically 65% of managers said they will look to further promote travel programmes this year while 62% are looking at ways to save money.
Managers in the EMEA region are placing less emphasis on their mobile strategy than other markets, indicating the area is already ahead on this front.
Big data, mobile apps and social networks building customer expectation will push managers to up their game, through potentially more collaborations, data use and a focus on the travellers.
Security is also important both for the travellers themselves and online.
“The greater focus on traveller experience marks a fresh, positive chapter for the industry. We’re working on new, innovative ways to help travel managers achieve their money-saving objectives at the same time as exceeding traveller expectations, from booking to expense management, and everything in between,” said CWT’s executive vice president, global marketing & enterprise strategy David Moran.
